SENIORS - RELIEF THROUGH AGE-APPROPRIATE ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS
Life situation
The Fraunhofer Institute has carried out extensive research and recognized that a smart home for seniors can provide valuable relief for both themselves and their relatives. The term AAL “Ambient Assisted Living” is often used, which represents an age-appropriate assistance system for seniors. With the numerous possibilities that a smart home offers, many everyday tasks can be made easier by automating them. For example, family members could receive an alarm through my smart home system if a water alarm in the kitchen goes off and stays on for a long time, possibly due to an accident in the kitchen. Issues such as automatically turning lights on and off when there is movement may seem trivial, but they are an immense relief for seniors.
Why?
My Smart Home for Seniors offers a variety of features and solutions specifically tailored to the needs of older people. Well-known assistance systems suitable for older people, such as intelligent emergency call systems, enable seniors to enjoy a high level of security even in their own homes. Thanks to my automation of processes, many everyday challenges can be easily overcome. Smart sensors and devices can provide early warning of potential dangers and notify relatives when help is needed. Comfort functions such as automatic adjustment of lighting and heating ensure a pleasant living atmosphere.
My vision
My goal with Smart Home for seniors is to enable a self-determined life in their own home while providing security and support. This intelligent system helps seniors stay in their familiar surroundings for longer without having to forego comfort and safety. It is important to me that the operation of the smart home systems is simple and intuitive so that even seniors with less technical experience can benefit from the advantages.
ADULT
Adults are undoubtedly the most demanding group as they place great importance on comfort, energy efficiency and safety. All functions and possibilities of my smart home are fully utilized here.
JUNIORS
The younger generation has high expectations for entertainment and enjoys the convenience of a networked audio and video system. Topics such as energy savings through thermostats are less important to them.
